About Me

I’m Liz, 24 and living in Scotland withn my husband and five birds. I’ve always loved doing crafty things, I started with the kits that I got for Christmas and birthdays before branching out on my own.

Before I went to uni I did a lot of cross stitch and I enjoyed it. I loved watching things grow from that white sheet of material and take on colours and shapes and slowly grow to a whole picture. Another great thing about cross stitch was that it was so easy to make up my own patterns or mix and match borders.

Then I moved on to jewellery. I love to make jewellery, although I don’t do it so much now, because I don’t wear much. I’ve done beaded jewellery and knotted jewellery and my greatest love is chainmaille jewellery. Chainmaille is essential rings of wire connected together to make various patterns. I love to do it, but it’s too expensive for normal day to day crafting and I save it for something special. The awesome thing about making jewellery is that whatever you make is always unique. No one else will evver by exactly the same materials you do, or combine them in exactly the same way. Once you have the basic techniques you are set to go.

Knitting and crochet are my latest crafts. I love them. The yarn is so soft it’s a joy to hold and the process is so relaxing. It’s also ridiculously portable which is fantastic. It can be taken anywhere and anywhere and most of the things you make can be worn and shown off, and if you’re clever you can learn to alter designs to get a better fit, and design your own things.
